Please note: This is just a rough guide as all rules are subject to change at any time should the Chairman decide.
As well as the basic rules of golf there are a number of rules that must be adhered to.
Also, as The Chairman is "all powerful", anything another Wednesday Nighter believes could amount to an offence must be brought to the Chairman's attention after the golf and he will decide whether an offence has been committed and impose a suitable fine for that offence. Those rules that must be obeyed are:
- You must always wear your Wednesday Nighters shirt (if you have one). If you do not have a shirt, you must go out of your way to obtain one ASAP.
- You must clearly declare "Blob saver!" before playing a shot that could give you 1 stableford point. It is considered to be "good form" to call this especially when you have absolutely no chance of scoring a point from that shot. Failure to call "Blob saver!" will result in a fine. Equally calling "Blob saver!" at the wrong time will also result in a fine.
- Coaching or advising another player (other than on the rules of golf) is an offence. Advising another members on the rules of The Wednesday Nighters IS however not permitted as any breach of this rule may prevent the other member committing an offence and therefore depriving The Wednesday Nighters of any possible fines.
- Practicing on the range before tee off is not permitted unless you have purchased a Practice Ticket (putting/chipping on and around the putting green is permitted).
- Although abusing the Chairman is not officially against the rules, it normally incurs quite a hefty fine.
- Withholding information from the Chairman that may result in a fine for another Wednesday Nighter is in itself an fineable offence.
- Use of a mobile phone at any time during the night is prohibited.
- Club abuse is fineable
- Verbal abuse when directed at ones self is not normally fineable, however if directed at another Wednesday Nighter is not permitted (although there are exceptions).
- You are not permitted to win the "Best Score of the night" prize on your first visit to the Wednesday Nighters each year.
- You are not permitted to win both "Best Score" and "Nearest the pin" prizes on the same night. Should this occur, the Chairman will decide which prize you are going to receive.
- If you are lucky enough to win the top score prize more than once, your handicap will be cut by 20% or 4 shots, whichever is the greater, on each subsequent win.
- Whenever you win, you are deducted 2 points on your next visit, this is to help prevent people winning "back to back".
- To win the prize money for Nearest the pin, you must be on the green and you must hole out in less than 3 putts. Please Note: YOU MUST HOLE OUT to win the money!
- If you win NTP (nearest the pin) more than once, on your second win you receive a 2 putter length penalty. This means that whenever you land your ball on the putting green on the NTP hole, you must measure 2 putter lengths back in a straight line away from the hole and play your ball from there. If you still manage to win nearest the pin with a 2 putter length penalty, you lose the penalty and can compete for the honour of winning nearest the pin BUT, you can not win any money!
- You must not prevent another member from committing a fineable offence or yourself will have to pay the applicable fine.
- Damaging the sacred Wednesday Nighters Oak to the right of the 18th fairway.
- Non-playing members can′t message on the WhatsApp group chat.
